Each year a large number of new products are launched on the machine tool market, but real innovative breaks are rare. One of the reasons for this relative reluctance to innovate is the difficulty of getting off the beaten track and reinventing the trade. Moreover, it is extremely expensive to develop a new machine. A manufacturer who can rely on tried and tested modules to create new solutions has an undeniable advantage. We met Mr Pierre Boschi, Director of Emissa S.A. in Le Locle (Switzerland).

With its triple spindle, its triple counter-spindle, its revolver head and its new turning tool holding system, the WinFlexTurn is radically different from all the other solutions currently on the market.
The company Emissa has been in existence for over 70 years and over this period of time it has accumulated considerable know-how in the creation of high production machines. Mr Boschi told us, "If we want to keep up with global competition, we have to offer new solutions which provide more advantages for users. In order to do this, we build machines based on tried and tested modular bases, thus shortening lead times and allowing us to offer immediately efficient and reliable solutions at competitive prices". High innovation rate Every year Emissa presents new products and the company’s objective is clear: to offer innovative solutions which meet the needs of current and future markets. At the Micronora (Besançon, France) and AMB (Stuttgart, Germany) exhibitions, Emissa will be presenting three new products which are currently in the launch stage. Designed with the same base:
- Magic Tool 100
- Speed Tool
- Speed Tool Magnum These are micro-machining centers equipped with multi-spindle heads which allow a chip-to-chip tool changeover in less than 0.5 seconds. Another product presented in a new version is the:
- WinFlex Turn
This is a new kind of automatic lathe which can handle three bars simultaneously, thus drastically reducing part production time. {{}}

Just to be different ? "If we develop machines which are so different from market standards, it’s not just to be different, but to offer more to our customers. Today the same numerical control equips all the machines and the only way to differentiate our products is with the basic machine concept itself. Our objective is to offer a reliable and efficient solution to our customers in order to guarantee the best possible return on investment" concludes Mr Boschi.
