With the new MAM 72-100 H 5 axes horizontal machining center, Matsuura brings a new dimension to its 5 axes range. The 100 H designation refers to the maximum diameter of parts which is 1000 mm and the letter H indicates the horizontal position of the spindle. This machine has been developed to apply a maximum machining power on the part through the very rigid horizontal milling spindle; while the 4th and 5th axes are applied on the palette. It is also designed to enable very precise machining with the thermal stability of its spindle nose.
The two rotary axes are equipped with super-dynamic DD direct drives and leave no user aside in terms of dynamics needs. To allow large parts clamping in hidden time the MAM72-100 H machining center includes a 2-position pallet changer (for 630 x 630 mm pallets); this from the basic version of the machine. This new Matsuura is designed for the machining of parts with high level of requirement for sectors like machine-tool building, aeronautics, energy and subcontracting.
Designed for a minimum of 7000 working hours of spindle per year in ideal situation "With this new machine, we want to complete the range of the equipment available on the market for 5 axes machining of complex parts of large size with a much more powerful model in terms of production requirements," explains Pirmin Zehnder, Manager of Newemag, the Swiss general representative of Matsuura. And he continues: "The mechanical qualities as well as all the necessary equipment to ensure the flexibility of production and the maximum reduction of labor costs show clearly that the MAM72-100 H machining center is designed to operate for at least 7000 hours of spindle per year in ideal situation. We believe that this machine provides the maximum of its capacity when it is used for machining of steel, cast iron, steel and titanium alloys. These are situations where the rigid horizontal milling spindle can be used to the maximum of its possibilities”.
