On December 21 we published the first part of the interview of Gregor Bischkopf event manager with UBM Canon. In this second part we will see how MEDTEC Europe will includes other fields to create maximum synergies.

Which areas of medical technology have the biggest sales, and where do you see the biggest growth potential?
- I think orthopaedic and cardiovascular technology are very much in demand, and home healthcare products such as blood pressure monitors and CRPs also have a lot of potential for expansion. How will MEDTEC Europe 2011 reflect these areas?
- Orthopaedic and cardiovascular equipment come under the heading of precision technology which, as I’ve said, is the overall theme of the fair, so there’ll inevitably be a very wide range of solutions in these areas. And then there’s home healthcare.
- The electronics industry has a lot to offer in this area, and as there are no specific exhibitions for the home healthcare sector, we’re launching the first one in 2011. We’ve called it DesignMed. Who will be exhibiting there?
- DesignMed is aimed at electronics companies making components like semiconductors, transformers, printed circuit boards and complete assemblies. As exhibitors, they’ll be of particular interest to visitors from the medical electronics design sector making a variety of medical aids. We’re also seeing increasing interest from software companies who want to be involved in the design process at an early stage. Next year’s MEDTEC Europe will be the perfect platform for all of these businesses. In the past, you’ve also had three parallel exhibitions: SüdTec, RapidWorld and 3C Europe. Will they all be there this next year?
- Definitely! Visitors and exhibitors recognize the importance of these events as interfaces between different areas of technology, and they’ll be a central component of MEDTEC in 2011.
- MEDTEC has traditionally also welcomed companies from outside the industry who want to learn more about medical products and technology and use this knowledge in their own areas of expertise. So SüdTec is a chance for exhibitors who started out in other industries, such as automobile manufacturing, to meet potential customers from the medical technology sector. And how would you categorize exhibitors and visitors at RapidWorld and 3C Europe?
- RapidWorld is about fast, flexible product development, while 3C Europe covers cleanroom and contamination technology. Exhibitors at both events have a strong focus on medical technology applications, but of course they’re also targeting other areas of industry. Your Innovation Forum has attracted a great deal of attention in previous years. Which days will it be held on in 2011, and what themes will it focus on?
- The exact program hasn’t been finalized yet, but the forum will take place over all three days, and once again it will be organized in close collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute.
