EMO is approaching and, as announced on August 6, Willemin-Macodel is about to unveil a very important candidate to the price of the year’s innovation. The company decided to change completely its way to see things to develop a new concept of machining. When we speak of high precision, machine-tools builders always associate mass and rigidity. Willemin-Macodel decided to change of paradigm. The parallel kinematics allows minimising the moving mass while keeping the great rigidity of the (…)

"baseline" – a new product line for new Chiron customers
Chiron will show a world première and further pioneering innovations at the EMO from September 16 to 20 in Hanover. Chiron’s exhibition area will be in hall 12, stand B 84. News at EMO: The new 26 series stands for horizontal machining, productivity and high-performance cutting. Series 24, which is also new, features vertical machining with a spindle clearance of up to 600 mm and a drum workpiece changing system. This means highly productive machining in series production for larger (…)

Technological leap in the service of microtechnology
In machining by chip removal it is very rare that new machines questions well-established technologies, usually novelties are more or less important developments of known elements. With the 701S machine presented as World Premiere at EMO, Willemin-Macodel is about to change the way we will see machining. The machine is designed around a parallel architecture as opposed to a classic (serial) one and I haven’t a lot more information for now. What we know for sure: It is a small machine (…)

EvoDeco for large diameters to be launched at EMO
At this year’s EMO, Tornos is presenting the replacement for the last two Deco machines on the market, the Deco 20 and Deco 26. Logically enough, these machines have been named EvoDeco 20 and EvoDeco 32. Until now the upper limit of the EvoDeco line was 16 mm. Thanks to the launch of EvoDeco 20 and EvoDeco 32, Tornos can now offer a complete EvoDeco version line from 2 to 32 mm. The concept behind the EvoDeco line remains unchanged, which is to uphold the overall philosophy that has (…)

The Asian EMO (?!)
The EMTE-EASTPO Machine Tool Exhibition will be held in Shanghai at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 14 to 17 July 2014. The joint exhibition will leverage on the combined strengths and expertise of three partners: CECIMO, EASTPO Culture and Development and MP Organisation. Mr Filip Geerts, director general of CECIMO, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries, says : “Our purpose is to meet the need of European machine tool builders to have another machine tool (…)

The solution for machining CVD and PCD tools
The materials used to manufacture cutting tools are increasingly hard and require innovative machining solutions. For example, the production of CVD (Chemical Vapor-deposited Diamond) has been mastered for some time, but until now there was no effective means of machining such material. To provide an answer to this problem, Rollomatic, specialists in providing grinding machines for the production of ’high tech’ cutting tools, will unveil the LaserSmart 500 at EMO (Hall 6, Stand E16). (…)

Machines and know-how close to you
For the fifth year DMG/Mori Seiki is organising one-day technology seminars on the subject of innovative machining topics within the scope of roadshows. The presentations consists of an integrated combination of theory and practice, ranging from milling and turning to the ever-expanding aerospace industry and machine-related workshops. The Roadshows are rounded off by live demonstrations on the machinery, and also specialist talks from a wide range of competence partners. The benefits to (…)

Hard materials high speed machining: a wish comes true
What had long been regarded as impossible has become reality: ultra-hard materials can be machined by high speed milling. It is a kind of mini-revolution that begins in the construction of moulds, tools and components for advanced applications. To be profitable, this process should however be reserved for very specific fabrications. By "ultra-hard materials" we mean sintered carbide based metals (hard metals) and ceramics. These two types of materials are composites, which are (…)

Swiss champion of productivity and precision
Yesterday Schaublin Machines inaugurated its new building with the presence of Didier Cuche, the Swiss ski champion, authorities, customers from all around the world, agents, partners, employees and Schaublin supporters. Today the celebration continues for the general public and employees. The event was the occasion to unveil the new 202 TG turning/grinding machine… and also to celebrate the first machine sold to a Malaysian company (and a few more orders are expected within a few days). (…)

When a high precision turner designs a machine...
...it finely fits his needs! But to become machines manufacturer isn’t that easy... And yet this ’ideal’ machine exists today, we discovered it at Humard Automation in Delémont (Jura, Switzerland). Meeting with MM. Georges Humard, Director and Fabio Carabotti, Project Manager. Basically, the concept of this new 7 mm capacity sliding head automatic was developed by Elwin, a Sandoz Foundation owned high precision turning company. After several prototypes, Humard Automation had the (…)
