The company will also present cost-effective entry-level versions of its machines and robot cell that deliver 100% INDEX quality despite their streamlined technical specifications.
Long a major trend: complete machining with powerful turn-mill centers. At AMB 2026, the Esslingen-based machine tool manufacturer will introduce its new INDEX G160 turn-mill center, expanding the current G-series with a smaller model. Also on display will be the TRAUB TNX160, which is essentially identical in design. The key difference lies in the control system: While the INDEX G160 is equipped with a Siemens Sinumerik ONE CNC, the TNX160 features the Mitsubishi-based TRAUB TX8i-s CNC.
Both machines are based on the proven INDEX G200.2 platform and cover the same range of workpieces. Their defining feature is a high-performance motor milling spindle with Y- and B-axes that can perform machining operations at both the main and counter spindle. Both turn-mill centers also feature highly dynamic direct-drive main and counter spindles. Customers can choose between a version with 42 mm bar stock clearance—ideal for smaller, high-speed parts—and a higher-torque spindle with 65 mm clearance. The tool magazine accommodates 60 tools, or optionally 90, which are loaded into the milling spindle by a double gripper—an important feature for automated production.
Robot changes turret tools
Another member of the successful G-series on display is the INDEX G220 turn-mill center. However, visitors are likely to be especially drawn to the connected iXcenter L, which will be presented at the show as a cost-effective entry-level version with a safety fence. One of the highlights of this exhibit is the robot’s ability to perform automatic tool changes in the turret. The only requirement is that the turret’s VDI mounting be equipped with a straight or angled HSK base holder. INDEX specialists at the booth will explain why this is necessary and demonstrate how the tool changing process works in detail.
iXcenter now also available for multi-spindle turning machines
INDEX will also showcase another new automation solution on the MS24-6 multi-spindle turning machine: an iXcenter developed specifically for this class of machine. Mounted directly to the machine, the robot cell automates workpiece unloading and handling. Thanks to its modular design, the iXcenter can be adapted for numerous additional tasks and, with the appropriate options, supports closed-loop manufacturing. This enables stable, low-operator production of insert parts while maintaining consistent process quality. The iXcenter can also be retrofitted to many standard INDEX multi-spindle turning machines.
Unmatched productivity per unit area
Another highlight at the INDEX booth is sure to be the new TRAUB MS12-4—a revolutionary multi-spindle sliding/fixed headstock turning machine for small workpieces with a diameter range of 3 to 13 mm. This machine is based on a completely new kinematic multi-spindle concept that does not rely on the legacy spindle drum and sequential machining. Instead, the MS12-4 follows the principle of the TRAUB TNL12 sliding headstock turning machine, whose core components, such as main and counter spindles, turrets, and flexible tool carriers (FlexWT), are, in effect, vertically stacked four times over. This makes it possible to machine four parts simultaneously, significantly increasing productivity per unit area.
Additional advantages arise from the modular design of the TRAUB MS12-4. In addition to the full configuration with four spindles and turrets, as well as four counter spindles and flexible tool carriers (FlexWT), customers can choose from further equipment variants. This allows the sliding headstock multi-spindle machine to be configured precisely and cost-effectively for the specific workpiece requirements.
Outstanding value
The TRAUB TNL12 lean sliding/fixed headstock turning machine is another cost-effective solution. This entry-level version is equipped with just one turret and one back working unit, making it particularly attractive from an investment standpoint. The live guide bushing is adjustable but not programmable. Need more functionality? No problem. The lean version can also be expanded with a range of optional features.
Not an entry-level machine, but the classic among production turning machines, the INDEX C200 is a fixture at every trade show. Renowned for highly productive bar stock machining, it is available with either a Siemens or Fanuc control. At AMB, the C200 will be on display in its Fanuc configuration.
A wealth of expertise
Knowledgeable INDEX experts will be available at every machine and system on display to answer questions and provide detailed information. In addition, the Meet-the-Experts counter in the center of the booth will invite visitors to discuss machining solutions for the medical, aerospace, and e-mobility sectors with INDEX application and technology specialists. The booth will also feature INDEX digital specialists, who will demonstrate the practical benefits of the digital INDEX iXworld. They will present numerous iX4.0 apps, showing how the iX4.0 IoT platform ensures transparency and productivity throughout the entire machining process chain. They will also show how efficiently the iXshop can be used to procure spare parts and other tools, as well as the benefits iXservices offer in after-sales service.
