Since its introduction in 2005, the range of Bumotec S191 machines has lived several developments and many innovations have emerged to deal with the very specific demands of its customers. We have reviewed the situation before EPHJ with Guy Ballif its commercial Director. What are the latest news?

With more than 400 machines sold in the fields of watchmaking, medical and mechanical sub-contracting, the S191 machine is equipped with linear guides and thermal stabilisation that contribute to its stability. Questioned about users’ feedback Mr. Ballif explains: “Customers are unanimous, the machine is excellent regarding precision and repeatability, but what really makes the difference today, it is the effort we do on the application dept. Each machine is built on demand using proven modules". The company proposes it’s know-how on demand to its customers.
Permanent evolution The S191 machine is constantly evolving based on the needs of customers. Several parameters are to be taken into account, the complexity and the difficulty of parts of course, but also the security of the process or the possibility of completing parts in one clamping. The Director adds: "If today machining from bar for some parts is still rather marginal, security and simplicity benefits start to be appreciated by our customers". Similarly machining of ceramics and other hard materials was marginal some years ago and it is today a standard for Bumotec.
New building planned To ensure its growth, Bumotec has planned the construction of a new plant of which the surface will be doubled compared with today’s situation. Work’s start is scheduled for this fall... and in term of meeting with the company on the market, the first is EPHJ (Geneva) where specialists of the company are delighted to welcome visitors from the watchmaking world... and from elsewhere on stand D60.
