The proliferation of machined materials and additives in cutting fluids, often linked to specific geometries and always more demanding requirements, make the job of cleaning the parts constantly evolves and requires more and more sharp skills. To know more about those, we met with Mr. Marc-Alain Zimmerli, director of the company of the same name (Cortaillod, Switzerland).
Depending on the type of stain, the parts require special treatment, whether it be water-based (polar) or using solvents or modified alcohols (apolar). Thanks to its wide range, the company is able to offer all types of machines. The director explains: "We always analyze processes in their whole. Recently for example, we have equipped a watchmaker with two complementary systems: interoperation washing using solvents completed by final water-based washing for the disposal of polishing paste residues”. He adds: ’We are specialized in developing complete cleaning solutions, but also in finding solutions for ’impossible’ parts”. He continues: "To demonstrate our skills, we organise open-houses twice a year and customers can bring their parts".
Know-how and collaborations Zimmerli SA specialists have an experience of over 25 years in cleaning, but when entering the chemical field, they work with partners, whether it be specialized laboratories or laboratories of oil, water-based products or solvents manufacturers for example. Mr. Zimmerli says: "Cutting oils are constantly improved by manufacturers and this involves new additives, new molecules that can create new interactions with machined materials. It is for this reason that we perform tests and in case of question we work closely with these specialists”. The next opportunities to meet Zimmerli SA By its willingness to always offer the possibility to customers to compare, the company performs tests of washing in its premises every week and customers are welcome at all times. With regard to special events, the two weeks of open house of 2014 will take place from March 11 to 14, and from September 7 to 10 in Cortaillod. The company will also exhibit at Simodec (on the Pero stand), SIAMS and EPHJ-EPMT-SMT.
To conclude, Mr. Zimmerli says: "Have some tests done and compare, you will not be disappointed!”.
