Based on the Völklingen Ironworks site, a UNESCO world heritage site, itp is ideally situated as a precision metal-working company. Here, around 50 employees produce measuring-technology components with high-performance Motorex Ortho NF-X cutting oil, which can be used universally. The smallest measuring probe has a probe ball with a diameter of only 0.5 mm at the tip. This was drilled and mounted onto the shaft, which is only 0.17 mm wide. This demands the highest degree of precision (…)

Technology centre to the service of machining expertise
Recently, lubricant company Blaser Swisslube has extended its ultra-modern Technology Centre which now occupies about 300 m2 of floor space at its head office site in Hasle-Rüegsau (Switzerland). For the last four years, this is where the latest metalworking fluids to be developed are tested, and where the versatile machining operations of its customers and partners are recreated in a realistic way. The technology centre enables the machining specialists from Blaser to provide customers (…)

Vegetable water-based coolants and cutting oils
For more than 20 years, Condat works on vegetal oils for replacing mineral oils. Since 2009, Condat proposes a range of soluble oils and cutting oil for metal working formulated from vegetable based esters. These fluids show high performances lubricating power, good stability and consumption economy. These product-ranges called Neat Green and Mecagreen are on display in Halle 4 at Hannover Messe. The new range of Mecagreen and Neat Greens are innovative products that have needed two years (…)

Pigging technology in operation
As is the case with a talented chef who intends to create a delicious menu, he will need, depending on the number of courses and size of the group, quite a lot of pots, pans, bain marie pans, serving plates, etc. Similarly, when it comes to the production of over 2500 different Motorex products more or less the same principle applies. With the increased number of storage tanks and the introduction of the most recent generation of pigging technology, Motorex is again expanding its innovative (…)

Improving efficiency through innovative lubrication practices
With the introduction of the SMED method (single-minute exchange of die), Boillat Technologies appreciated instantly the importance of the role that processing fluids would play in optimising set-up times during production changeovers. In close cooperation with MOTOREX, the company’s needs were analysed and the solutions were presented. The result was a reduction in product variety from 12 processing fluids to just two cutting oils. Jacques Boillat, the CEO and owner of Boillat (…)

Machining Tantalum - with chlorine-free cutting oil
In the medical devices industry, platinum is frequently used as the working material, particularly for producing cardiac implants. As platinum is very expensive material – 1kg costs a little over €35,000 Euros – alternatives that are more cost-effective are being sought. Tantalum has been identified as a suitable replacement for platinum in terms of functionality, its also convincing from a cost perspective (approximately €500 Euros per kilo). Tantalum is used in the medical device (…)

Skin disorders associated with the use of coolants
With the launch of its new coolant called Tresor, Motorex met with Michael Rocker, chemist, Berufsgenossenschaft Metall Nord Süd (BGM), Mainz and talked about skin disorders associated with the use of coolants. You can see the wholeinterview here. Skin disorders caused by coolants – contact eczemas, as they are known – are generally multifactorial in nature. Depending on the damaging factors in each case, we refer to allergic, toxic, irritant or degenerative changes in the skin, and mixed (…)

The Green Revolution: Motorex Tresor PMC®
Water-miscible cooling lubricants are a crucially important element of demanding metal machining processes. In nature, life cannot exist without water – but the water, mineral oil and emulsifiers used in machine tools can turn them into ideal incubators. Up to now, chemicals such as boron, amines, fungicides or bactericides have had to be regularly used to check this persistent growth. The need for such “chemical bludgeons” is now over! Ladybugs (the Coccinellidae family of beetles) eat up (…)

International training camp at MOTOREX
The recent MOTOREX INTERNATIONAL TRAINING camp was attended by about 100 active business partners from 24 countries. The 2-day training programme was dedicated to the field of industrial lubrication and provided up-to-date information about all products, processes and guidelines. The active participation of the attendees and the many interesting questions asked in the workshops confirm that such information and training activities are an important component in MOTOREX’s success in the (…)
